Screen printing is a fantastic advertising tool, but choosing the right material matters. Unlike embroidery, it is not recommended for rough, thick, or fuzzy fabrics, where the print can peel. On smooth apparel, however, it remains a superior choice for high-visibility branding.

Most screen printed designs use one to six spot colors, because each color needs its own screen and its own pass through the press. One to three colors typically give the best cost per piece on a large run. If your artwork depends on unlimited color or photographic detail, direct to garment printing is usually the better fit.
A properly cured screen print does not crack or peel under normal wear. Cracking almost always traces back to ink that was not fully cured in production. Screen printing is not recommended for rough, thick or fuzzy fabrics, where the print can peel, but on smooth apparel a well printed shirt typically survives the life of the garment.
Vector artwork is ideal, meaning AI, EPS, PDF or SVG files built from scalable shapes rather than pixels. High resolution raster files can work for simpler designs. We can convert almost any digital art format for screen printing, and our in house artists optimize your logo so it reproduces cleanly on press.
Dark garments usually need a white underbase, which counts as an additional color. The underbase is printed first so the colors on top read accurately instead of sinking into the shirt color. That means one more screen and one more pass, so a four color design on a black shirt becomes a five color job.
